Mandarin to be introduced in English schools (6th Feb 2007)

The importance of China as a future business and economic power has again recently with the announcement that English schools are quite likely in the the neat future, to start offering Mandarin as a langauge which students can study.

It is expected that Mandarin and Arabic will be introduced to school sin the EU, for children aged between eleven and fourteen, starting from September 2008. The rules as they stand at the moment are that children must be taught at least one langauge from French, Italian, German or Spanish.
